One Postdoctoral Research Fellow position available in the Department of Chemical Sciences at the University of Johannesburg
Applicants are invited to pursue a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the Department of Chemical Sciences, at the University of Johannesburg’s Auckland Park Campus. The fellowship will be financially supported by the Royal society (UK). The project will be a joint collaboration between the University of Johannesburg and Witwatersrand University. A suitable candidate must hold a PhD in Microbiology, Chemistry or Biochemistry and must possess interdisciplinary work ethic.
Suitable Skills include:
Microbiology:
Have knowledge and skills of sterile working techniques, experience with fermentation of prokaryotes, bioreactor work, e.g. Sartorius, formulation of bacterial growth media, analytical methods: TLC, HPLC(-MS), isolation and purification of fermentation products, transformation of Bacillus and Streptomyces.
Chemistry:
Knowledgeable and skilled in synthetic organic chemistry, purification and spectroscopic techniques.
Value and Tenure of fellowship:
R300 000 per year for a maximum of 2 years.
