1. Notice of SASM General Meeting
In accordance with the SASM constitution, notice is hereby given that the SASM General Meeting is scheduled for Monday, 18 January 2016, 16:15, at the SASM congress in Durban. Please notify Prof. Karl Rumbold (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) of any points you want to be placed on the agenda.
Agenda for SASM General Meeting, 2016
The detailed agenda will be distributed at a later date. Please note that important issues need to be addressed at the GM. Therefore, it is essential that you attend the meeting. Some of these issues are:
- Election of the congress organising committee for the next SASM congress
- Election of new SASM office bearers
- Amendments (if any) to the SASM constitution
2. Call for bids: SASM Congress 2017/18
We need bids for the SASM congress in 2018. Written applications to present the next Congress should reach the secretary before the general meeting. Thus, please send in your proposal for a Congress Organising Committee asap.
3. Nominations to the SASM Council are invited
Please note the following extract from the SASM constitution:
Article 5: Council
5.5 Nominations for members of the Council shall be made on nomination forms and shall reach the Secretary two weeks before the General Meeting. Each nomination shall bear the signature of at least two ordinary members as proposer and shall have been accepted in writing by the nominee.
Thus, we need to receive the nominations by 3 January 2016 at the latest. You may Email your nomination as a letter bearing the appropriate signatures, as above. Please address your nomination to:

4. Proposed amendments to the Constitution
Please send proposals for any constitutional changes to the secretary Prof. Karl Rumbold (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) on or before 31 December 2015. The constitution can be found on the SASM webpage at http://sasm.org.za/about-sasm/constitution.html. Please bring this announcement to the attention of colleagues and students who may not have received this message.
