The selection criteria are as follows:
- Student applicant must be the main author/presenter of a poster or a talk at the conference
- Student applicant must be a paid up member of the society
- The academic merit of the student will also be taken into account

- Proof of registration as student at an academic institution for 2015
- Copy of the submitted/accepted abstract with clear indication of the main author/presenter
- SASM membership number/certificate
- An abbreviated curriculum vitae (1-2 pages, including if applicable any conference presentation and/or publications)
- Full academic transcripts
