- Sound knowledge of baculoviruses and their role as biopesticides;
- Knowledge of agricultural biological control;
- Must have advanced skills in laboratory techniques including bacterial and insect cell culture using biosafety facilities, and their genetic manipulation;
- Must have advanced skills in statistical analysis;
- Must have advanced skills in molecular biology including PCR, qPCR, RFLP, protein expression, gene cloning, virus purification, DNA extraction, and associated analysis techniques;
- Ability to develop novel techniques for use in the laboratory and field;
- Must have advanced computer skills, including competence with Microsoft Office programmes, online teaching tools, online bioinformatic tools and databases, specialised bioinformatic and analysis software such as SnapGene, Geneious, and MEGA, and statistical analysis software;
- Must have a valid driver’s licence;
