Purpose:

The Manager: Technology Transfer assists the Director: Research Office by building awareness of the importance of technology transfer amongst the different faculties, as well as identifying potential staff and student innovations suitable for commercialisation, then evaluating, researching market novelty, potential and viability, and developing commercialisation plans and identifying commercialisation partners.

This position works closely with the Manager: Contracts and Intellectual Property, who generates seed funding for technology transfer testing and development, as well as providing support by drafting contractual agreements, protecting innovations through material transfer, disclosure and licensing agreements; as well as patent registrations, copyrights, trademarks and other IP matters.

Requirements:

Honours degree (Masters will be an advantage) in engineering or science and/or a business-oriented qualification (MBA, BComm), plus minimum 3 year's experience in:-

  • Commercialisation of innovations and technology transfer from invention to market
  • Evaluation of innovation and technology transfer
  • Data-base creation, management and data mining
  • Financial management (to include budgets, tracking and costing experience)
